About Us

Located in Cumru Township in Reading, Berks County Pennsylvania, Fawn Hill is a family-owned, female operated one acre hop yard. We primarily grow hops, but also grow sunflowers and create handcrafted items. Everything we do in our hop yard, we do by hand, from the ground up and everything on our property is organically grown. We also hand pick all of our orders. We believe in quality over quantity every day.

A little about the property: We moved to 141 Wilma Ave in 2015. We have a total of 4 acres, but decided to keep things small and manageable, only focusing on one acre of hops. When we started our journey, we piloted various hop varieties to see how they would grow in our soil. In 2017, we established Fawn Hill Hop Yard LLC and installed the first poles of our trellis system (all by hand). We chose to grow the following varieties due to their resistance to disease and their anticipated harvest times: Chinook, Alpharoma (Rakau), Triple Pearl, and Nugget. We sell fresh wet hops and dried hops.

As for us: We met in 2008 in Philadelphia at the Khyber Pass Pub. We were both there to see friends DJ, and unknowingly, shared mutual friends. We married in 2013 at Stoudts Brewery in Adamstown Pennsylvania. One of the motivations for our journey involved years of traveling in pursuit of beer and antiques. As Fawn Hill is a project in the making, we both continue to work our day jobs as a Master Plumber and a Forensic Therapist. Check out our sister company, Fawn Hill Plumbing & Woodworking!

We are excited to move into the next phase of our journey and have many exciting upcoming plans! We are grateful every day for the relationships we have made along the way, and we would not be where we are without the support of our community.

Boone

- Our hopyard dog -

We adopted Boone, our Chocolate Lab Mix, from the DAWGS Prison Program in April of 2020. He was approximately six months old when we adopted him and he had spent most of his time in SCI Mahanoy being trained by handlers (inmates). He is the happiest when he is in his natural habitat - the hopyard!
